What is the "S", just a little wider and bigger fender flairs. Besides style which does not turn me on necessarily is there a compelling reason to pay the extra cash for a "S"?
Does it help on the track?
Technically what is the difference?

There's really nothing in the different models, but this has been discussed heaps of times. The "S" is just a little harder to find and they seem to hold there values.
I would have bought a NB if there was one available at the time, and it would have saved me money too.
It is reputed the S cars are faster too.....
Don't ask me how I know!

I love the extra width offered by the "S", when viewed from the rear, but am not fond of the lower sill shape. Because of that, I prefer the simple lines of the regular Carrera.

the only thing really special about the 1998 C2S is that it was the last aircooled, 'handmade' Porsche ever produced... there were exactly 993 sold in the U.S... and it was the end of 30+ yr era...
i dont see why everyone makes such a big deal about them

The narrow body cars or non-S models are very hot, I sometimes see one driving and like the simple lines, it really is a great looking car. With the right wheels and proper ride height they look better than most cars on the road. The "S" cars are harder to find and fetch big money compared to the regular car but they take the great look and make it that much better. I'd rather have a 993, narrow or wide body than not have one at all.

From a statisic standpoint, a 95 C4 is harder to find. C4 narrow bodies in general are harder to find since they only made 539 in 1995, 411 in 1996, and 1 in 1997 (who has that one??) C4 Cabs even more rare. Kinda cool to know only 539 people have a car like mine. Probably less because Im sure a few are out of commission.

I didn't think they made that many Turbo "S"s "993 Turbo S 345" in that info you just posting, but to answer the initial question, you actually answered it in your original post:
"Besides style which does not turn me on necessarily..."
Nuff said - just get the narrow body and be happy! Why spend ALOT of extra money for a style you don't find as appealing?
For me, I HAD to have that "S" badging on the rear of the car. At the time, I didn't know that much about 993's other than I loved the widebody and thought that swooshy "S" was wayyy cool. Plus, I HAD to have all wheel drive for bad weather, rain and snow. Spun out once in my 88 911 in the rain and it freaked me out.
