A simple, but useful storage bin available from Pelican Parts. Total cost $28.50

964-552-159-00-1DB-OEM Storage Bin (#10 in picture)
993-552-091-00-OEM Console Insert #11 - little rubber mat that goes in the botom of the Bin)

Of course you could always replace that cassette holder with the really useful CD Holder. There is also an eBay seller that offers a leather cup holder that fits in this space that holds two soda cans

I'd say it's a job to entrust to a Porsche specialist and beware of using non-original parts.

Personally, I'd restore it to the original cassette holder - if you can get hold of one. Very rare and valuable, you know...
