993 ride height and PSS9 settings
My '95 993 will be getting a PSS9 suspension in the next 2 weeks. I don't plan on attending more than 2-3 DE events a year.
Questions:
- What ride height would be recommended given that most driving will be on the street? RS height may be too low.
- What would be stiff/street PSS9 settings?
- Would track settings just be the stiffest settings?
Any other recommendations I should mention to my mechanic?
Thanks
Gus

For now, keep it simple. Go with RS +5mm height and set your PSS9s at '5' on all four corners. You can tinker as your track feel/skills improve. If you get to the point where you start playing around with settings, you'll probably want to go with a stiffer/adjustable rear sway bar.

Does anyone know what ride height results from the optimum (middle of the travel/adjustment range) position of PSS9s?
Reason I ask is that I was using some H&R coilovers where the ride and handling went from very nice to completely awful if you moved them 1" above optimum ride height.

I had mine set at the middle of the RS ride height range in the front and the top of the ride height range in the back. The reason for this was I was told (true or not I will never know for sure) that in order to properly set the rear kinematic toe the car can't be too low in back. This information was shared with me by two individual alignment specialists (if there is such a thing) at two different Porsche Dealerships. Those dealerships were Rusnak Porsche in Westlake Village, CA and Santa Barbara Auto Group (Porsche) in Santa Barbara, CA. I think that the height looks good and it doesn't seem too low. I only drive the car on weekends so I think you can get away with having it a little lower than a daily driver that you might drive places you don't know well and wind up smashing the front end up an unfamiliar driveway or something. If you have RS splitters that is something to be even more aware of. As for stiffness I don't recall my settings exactly but they are around the middle stiffness setting.

So what would the middle of the RS ride height be? How/where is that measured?
I was hoping I could have whatever ride height I wanted (ROW Sport), but it sounds like that may not be possible. I'm somewhat concerned about scraping my front-end, however the priority would be handling.
Thanks for the feedback thus far.

I set my PSS9 ride height in between ROW and RS on my 993tt. I've heard RS setting would involve RS uprights to correct bump steer. As to firmness, I intially tried 6 all around. That was too soft for me. After researching this board, I choose 5 front and 4 rear. Seems to be perfect for now, even for NYC streets. For the track, I plan to try 1 all around.
