[QUOTE=nota_troll]Parts alone are costing $1,000[list=a][*]Filters (Air/Pollen)[*]Plugs and Wires[*]Distributors and Rotors x2

<snip>

pardon my ignorance, but did you say REPLACE both distributors?
is so, $1k seems "cheap" unless P car distributors are less expensive than i would think.

Zombie Porsche, did you say you have to do that @ 90K also ????????????

thanks

Marcus,

Darn. I'm at 118k miles, so my SECOND 60k service is almost due. My wife will not be happy with me. April is when we pay property tax, home and auto insurance, and income taxes. Not to mention a new house we are funding down in Monterey...

Ouch, I'm in a load of trouble now.

CP

PS,

I just casually mentioned this thread, and the associated cost, to my wife, and she said: "That's why you guys buy this car right, to distinguish yourself?"

My answer: "I just didn't know that the distinction is going to lead to my extinction."

We shared a good laugh on that one.

Has your RUF done 118K miles or are you referring to another car?

My current odometer reading on the Ruf is 118,032 miles. When I got the car in December 2003, the odo reading was 97,115 miles. So yeah, the Ruf is a 'driven' car. Certainly no garage queen. I hope it is a good thing.

that makes a lot more sense.
When notatroll wrote,

"Filters (Air/Pollen)
Plugs and Wires
Distributors and Rotors x2
Belts
Oil Change"

I thought it might have been a typo deletion.

Now $1K seems pricey, but such is the price of ownership.

thanks

I've DIY'ed this stuff in the last 5k miles. Here are my approx. costs:

oil and filter change - $75 (about 1 hr.)
air filter - $15 (5 min.)
rebuilt dist. - $150 (1-2 hrs.)
new caps and rotors - $110 (2 min.)
new plug wires (reused connectors) - $150 (10-15 hrs.)
new spark plugs - $20 (6 hrs.)
power steering fluid flush - $7 (10 min.)
transmission fluid change - $32 (1 hr.)

That's how I afford my 993.

Rick, did you buy your parts from a single source or did you use several sources for plugs, wires, filters, etc. ?

My 60k tune includes:

$1800 with Viper Bob for a suspension upgrade (bit the bullet today)
- Bilstein HDs with M030 springs and F/R M030 way bars C4
$398 for spark plug wires from Autohausaz (Beru)
$320 with Pelican for 60k tune kit (w/o valve gasket covers)
-oil filters, o-ring, 12 plugs, air filter, 2 dist. caps, 2 ignition rotors, fuel filter, oil drain plug seal
$343 w/ Pelican-rock shield guards, 2 seat hinge covers, 2 pollen filters, ac/power steering/altenator (inner and outer) belts, vacuum lines, and ignation coil wire

Total-$2861.00 (havent got a labor quote yet)

Just the tune kit (without valve gasket covers),wires, pollen filters, and belts. $855.00

I like the tune kit that Pelican had pre-assembled.

Yes I'm aware the car isn't a Honda. duh.

Yes, I'd love some cheese with my whine.

Thats really impressive CP. Just goes to show that there are no reliability issues. I am currently looking at another BTR here. I got a cold feet with all the stories from the last one I looked at last year.
Cheers

1200-1800 aint cheap guys, but the amount of car we have for the price of maintenance is an incredible ratio IMHO. .02 given.

The Ruf sees her first track duty (under my ownership) this Friday. I will report on the reliability aspect after the event.
