Man 60k service is a lot of coin
 

Parts alone are costing $1,000

1. Filters (Air/Pollen)
2. Plugs and Wires
3. Distributors and Rotors x2
4. Belts
5. Oil Change

and I haven't even gotten the labor bill. I hope I didn't miss anything. Parts from Pelican. I have to skip the M030 suspension for now.

Wouldn't hurt so much if we didn't have a massive contractor bill for the renovations on the house. Oh well.

Sounds about right though. I need new spark plug cables too. Mighty mucho $$$. I have, however, discovered that parts from the specialty parts supplier run about 50% cheaper than from the P-car dealer (Bosch starter, air flow meter and O2 sensor).

I ordered all my 30K 'elite' service parts from AutohausAZ and they arrived lickety-split. The pricing could not be beat either. My 'elite' service borrowed many of the concepts - so to speak - from the 60K service - because, IMHO, many of the items were 10+ years old and THAT justified spending the extra $ to have them replaced - i.e. I was not just going by numbers on an odometer.

Yes, the labor is going to be a big chunk of the bill. However, if you know your mechanic is top-notch then - as we all know - you pay for quality and should (gladly?) pay for it.

We've chosen not to buy/drive a Econo-box / Japanese roller-skate. There are consequences for having made this decision.

What I will say is this: how many of us - after having had our cars serviced - and are driving them back home - have had either a big grin on our faces - or a big frown on our faces coz of the bill?

Personally, just a few days ago (see other thread(s)), I blew nine thousand on my 30K 'elite' service and 'winter project(s)'. To me it was money well spent -- and 'the bill' was very quickly forgotten when I slipped her into third, driver's side window down, and hauled ass down the parkway.

My 90k performed at 86k was around $1400.00 and is the same as a 60k.....$1500.00 or so is a lot cheaper than letting the car go without a 60k service and have a major $$$$ problem arise because of poor maintenance.

What is the general consensus on the estimated hours of labor required to complete the 60k service? I'm up to 54k miles on my '98 cab, so I guess my car will be due sometime this coming fall or winter...

I've gotten two quotes on 60k service yet to be performed. The first from a dealer at $1600 and the second after thinking the first was too high came in at $1900.

Paid about $1800 for mine, (but I have a C4) so I understand. But, $15k for the same type of service on a F-car....whew.... I guess everything really is "relative."
