Rennlister ashamed...
As many of you have followed my search for a 993, I felt it necessary to share what happened wtih my deal with "troppo" (Greg)
He and I had put a deal together on his beautiful 1998 993 C4S. I have had the car checked out by Eisenbuds in Denver, and the PPI came out very positive (Cylinder #1 had 4% on leakdown and a slight leak from the front pinion).
Unfortunately, in the last 24 hrs. my situation has changed both financially and personally. I went from excited to nervous to physically anxious due to outside pressures. It was at this point that Greg and I spoke and we decided the best thing was for him to put the C4S back on the market. I am embarassed and ashamed, but know the decision to cancel the purchase was in my family's best interest. This had nothing to do with the condition of the car, and don't want anyone else to think otherwise.
That said, Greg has REDUCED the price of his C4S so that he can sell it before he has to pay tax on his newly acquired 993TT. I can tell you that he is honest, trustworthy, and eager to make the deal happen, just as he did with me. Please see his ads and if you have been looking for a C4S, at $38,750 one would be stupid to pass it up. I wish I could be that person, but it will take a couple of months to get back to that level. I may have to rethink my financial ability for the moment.

Good for you Jeff and I agree with Matt... there is nothing to be ashamed of here, things changed and you have to do what is best for you and your family right now. Also thumbs up for Greg for being understanding and I hope that this will all work out for both sides.
Good luck to you Jeff.

BTW, the other cylinder were all 1% and 2% on th ppi. Really, this is an abosuletly smokin' deal for a rennlister in search of a nice c4s with all the right upgrades

I'm impressed with the humility of your confession and the decision to do the right thing for your family instead of putting your personal desires first......................You have a very lucky family!

I appreciate everyone's responses. I really want to help Greg (troppo) out here. We all "know" eachother in an anonymous way through this forum, but once you talk on the phone regularly, and send eachother emails, the "relationship" is taken to a different level; and that is what happened with Greg. He and I have gotten to know eachother more as friends and I respect that. I am not one to shake a man's hand only to keep the other hand behind my back with "fingers crossed".
I do feel a "mea culpa" was necessary to exculpate his car from any blemish that may be perceived by Greg relisting his C4S. The mechanic at Eisenbuds did not find anything that would cause alarm, especially at this price, and wanted to make that clear.
Maybe "ashamed" is not the right word for everyone, would "apologetic" work better?
The worst part is I sent my wife and daughter to Maui for a week and I can't find a flight to join them Drinks anyone?
