Default stumped by a nutsert

The TSB for installation of the CDC-3 CD changer lists a nutsert for installation into the front trunk so I obediently drove around to the Porsche dealer and acquired the requisite number of nutserts.

I guess I expected a nylon or springy metal mount that I would pound in the 9mm holes I'm supposed to drill but instead it's just a little threaded barrel with a small lip. nothing to keep it from pulling out of the hole and nothing to keep it from spinning when any pressure is applied.

So do I

--epoxy it into the hole?
--take it back to the dealer?
--something else?

Haven't installed one of these, but I believe there is a pop rivet type tool to install nutserts.

They need to be expanded with a tool, much like a Rivnut.

In the absence of which you ca use an appropriate sized bolt and a nut to compress the 'nutsert'.

Thread nut onto bolt part of the way. Set nutsert (the name !). Thread bolt with attached nut into nutsert hole. Tighten nut agaist nutsert (aaaaaaaarggghhhhhhhhh) while holding bolt with spanner. Keep tightening nut untill RIVSERT is suitably compressed.

If you do not understand how this works, ask someone who does, or you'll be guaranteed to screw it up in the fullest sense of the word.

Thank you, Rennlist gurus. I knew I was missing something. And I knew some of you guys would know what that was.
