Fire extinguisher mount - (with pics)
I would like to mount a fire extinguisher at the base of my passenger seat. Is Brey Krause the only manufacturer of such mounts, or are there others?

Mark in Balt. I'll be doing the HPDC. I'll look for you if you'll be there. Are you bringing the avatar car?
I need one of those FE mounts too. Any local places? How many $$ ?

I've found some that mount directly to the seat-mounting points (BK) and others that mount to the seat itself (Stable Energies). If the passenger seat is typically left in the rearmost position, would a base mount like the BK keep the extinguisher jutting out pretty far? Any photos of your installations?

Mine is from http://stable-energies.com/products.asp?dept=45 also. It was an easy install, I posted it on the 964 page here https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ferrerid=14871

I have the BK unit on my C2 and the Stable energies on my turbo. The Stable energies part is far superior. It moves with the seat keeping the extinguisher at the correct distance from the back of the legs the BK unit is stationary and is a PITA. If you have only 4 way adjustable seats it is even worse as you loose travel of the seat and it becomes almost impossible to access the seat adjuster.
I have known Bob at Stable Energies for over 20 years and he and his daughter Laurette are great people. Give Laurette a call and she will answer all your questions. I for one will be removing the BK unit soon because I just don't like it.

Tony,
BK stuff is certainly sweet - I really like the quick release setup. But that takes up the entire passenger footwell!

Cobalt, I went on line to Stable Energies and look for their FE holder. I found 2 but neither had a picture. They had a FEM2 and FEM2B. Both units were $50.
Are these the ones that move with the seat and what is the difference between the two?

The Bad News...the Good news..
The bad news.....if you have a cheesy fire extinguisher mount, and you should happen to do a "G" inducing snap roll in your car, the cheap mount could easily give way and the extinguisher morph into an unguided missile in your car...cheap bracket, $25.00...new set of choppers (Teeth to the uninitiated), $10,000.
Brey Krause sells a beautiful CNC aluminum mount. I saw it once and had to have it. It looks to be very well made and will probably stay in place should the above scenario take place...but, it costs $300...a new set of choppers, $10,000. The BK option is a reasonable deal...but, the high cost of this item could well drive you to the best solution.
For about $450, or so, you can get a remote fire extinguisher unit, with routing to the cabin and the engine compartment...this is what the big boys do. $450 + $300 to install, $750....you can keep your choppers.
This is what I will be doing later this year and selling off my BK mount...keep your eyes peeled you bargain hunters!
