Identify this part contest
I need your help identifying these items. This week I attempted to clean the inside of my headlights after reading the success many have had doing so. When I opened my trunk I did not find the levers that release the headlight assembly from the car body. I found these items that the PO had placed in the tool bag.
Are they the missing headlight levers? I cannot figure out what else they could be.
TIA for your help.

Yep - those are the headlight levers.
Edit: here's how they go together (lever is #12). To remove the headlights, you'll probably have to remove the forward fender liners and push the light out. Then, you'll be able to fit the levers.

Maybe the PO was mechanically challenged, removed the headlights to replace the bulbs and found those bars in the way when reinserting the headlights and removed them. Did you find any dried-up bubble gum around the lenses by any chance? lol

Not sure what is holding the light assemblies in place. I am going to have a better look at the situation today. It looks like there is some sort of latch mechanism just inside the fender that rotates to hold the assembly in, maybe it is in the locked position.
Mike J, that was me asking about the headlights. I cannot tell if any gum, duct tape or lag bolts are holding the lights in place, I will report back later!

UPDATE: I was able to insert the rod through the holes and then able to release the headlights from their position. They were being held in there by only the bracket bolted to the car and the channel on the headlight assembly itself. Amazing that the assembly was not loose and had not vibrated out of position.
I was then able to lock the rod down and secure the headlight assembly in place. After this I noticed that the plastic cradle that holds the rod while in the locked postion was in the opposite position that is intended. They had been turned around for some reason by the PO. This might explain why the rods had been removed and not re-installed.
I know that the drivers side fender had been removed at some point and re-sprayed. None of this info turned up on CarFax, but it was revealed to me by the PPI during the paint analysis by the Tech.
After all this I adjusted the headlights with the hex wrench, so all is good. Amazing how tight the tolerances are to hold the headlight assembly in place without being locked in, just shows you how well these cars are built and engineered!
