Default Paint quality

How many manufacturer's have 10 year old cars that have paint like this? and after 108k miles? Doing a bit of polishing while the car is up on stands getting new brake pads.

I'm trying the Meguire's (sp?) Crystal system I think its called. Its a 3 part deal, so its kinda time consuming. Its a seperate paint cleaner, polish, and carnuba wax. I've always had trouble keeping the car looking good. It always seems to oxidize quickly, not sure if its the camious I'm using after washing or what. Usually use Zymol, but that stuff just won't last. I love the Meg's quick detail wax so I thought I'd give this stuff a whirl. Looks good, just hope it lasts

Yeah Carm, thats me in .....half my glory
36, overweight (only slightly) and feeling like 65 (which is why I sit to wax )
Its hard bein' pretty .....the car too

Is that not the coolest? I get more compliments on the car after a good detail, even from guys driving much nicer and more expensive cars.
It just won't stay that nice long enough

I have a '97 BMW that admittedly has "soft" paint, but if you take care of it, it holds up incredibly well.

I agree on the BMW side. My m3's paint has held up extremely well.

Chris,

Your car looks good. Did you tint your windows? Just the back or the sides also? What product did you use?

Tinted everything but the windshield
I didn't do it, although I know how and have done it in the past. I took it to a shop. They did pretty well, but looking back I could have probably done it myself just as well.

Chris,

That paint looks nice and shiny! I've seen 993's with oem paint that has been wet sanded and look as good as new. Is that meguire's a pain to use or does it come off clean?

Also, I dig the Scirocco, I have a g60 Corrado sitting in the garage with less miles than my 993. One day I'll get the knack to drive it daily again... one day.
