Default Headlight removal, missing levers

I wanted to clean up the inside of the headlights, but my car is missing the levers that are shown in the owners manual. The levers are the ones that you position back and forth to released the headlight assembly. Seems the PO had removed them and never replaced them. One side is missing the rubber grommet too. Any suggestions as to a tool that might work in place of the original lever or should I purchase on from one of our sponosors.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

That's not good.

Why would the PO remove them? Will a hex wrench of some size work?

i am curious as to how they remain in there current position and not hanging out over your front bumper after a good hard braking ???? you can buy all of the pieces for it and i can post some pics if you need some. are the lever holding plates still there?

pegasis0066-Not sure why the PO would have removed them. Looking at the manual it shows levers very clearly, but they are not there. I looked in the tool bag, but there is nothing that looks like a tool for the lights. I did not see where a hex wrench would fit.

faster-I have not tried the braking fix, but that could be a start = I looked inside the area next to the headlight assembly and I can see the lever holding plates. How do the levers attatch to the plates, is it like a key of some sort?

Looks like I will have to order the part, does anyone know the # ?

Ya, I'm curious too. I would recommend leaving them in (don't pry them out) until you have all the parts you need - when I took mine out to install HIDs, them had been in there long enough to create a bit of a seal. They would likely have stayed in without the levers until I popped them out, then they were in and out much easier. Hopefully, you can manage to get the levers soon to make the fix, but while you're in there I would highly recommend upgrading to HIDs - just my $.02. Good luck!

Just get them from a wrecker like Parts Heaven or a local wrecker etc. It will be much cheaper than new and the parts are the same age as your car anyways...

so are the lights just shoved right into the fenders? You need the levers to lock them in..

Cheers,

Mike

locking rods 993 631 183 00 2 ea
rubber sleeves 993 631 180 01 2 ea

the rods act like a cam of sort and pulls the headlight bucket back and the rod locks into the plates
