Awesome thread. This would definitely be my next upgrade.

BTW, here's Autohaus's website: http://www.autohausaz.com/

Thanks for sharing.

I love rennlist!!

I was just looking at my chipped headlight lenses yesterday when I washed the car, thinking they would cost an arm and a leg to replace.
Well, what do you know, I sign onto rennlist and find out they're 59$ each. So I ordered them yesterday!
I also looked for info on the HID conversion and ended up ordering a kit for that as well...

Default Lense replacement trouble

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I am having trouble replacing my headlight lenses, and my brief search didn't give any mention of the issue I'm having.

Specifically, 2 of the 5 tabs on my old lenses appear to have been "heat bonded" to the housing such that they cannot simply be unsnapped like the others. The circular area in the first photo is where the lens appears to be melted to the headlight body, vs. the clean arrangement in the second picture, which can be readily disconnected.

Has anyone else seen this? Did you cut the plastic in this area to get the lens off the headlight body? I am concerned about damaging the headlight body and rendering 2 of the 5 attach points unusable. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

(I love the way the headlight comes out so easily, though)

I had the same "problem". I just cut off the heat bond neatly along the inner edge of the clip. Then I just sanded off any excess plastic that would prevent the clip from locking back to place.
Worked like a charm!

Great, thanks very much...I figured that'd be the solution, but I didn't want to be too hasty about it (my experiences monkeying with Hondas in high school taught me that lesson all too well!).

My lenses are still OK for the time being, and for who needs them its a great visual/functional upgrade that doesnt cost too much...
Last month I replaced my brake/clutch pedal rubber pads which is another cheap upgrade, Autohaus AZ sells them for around $3.59 each.

FWIW, bought from Automotion, received in less than a week, installed the same day as delivered and the front end looks brand new.

Mine were "heat bonded" at the clip also. I just used a flat screwdriver to lift under the bonded tabs and they actually clipped off quite easily.

They are all done this way and the simplest method is as noted, gently pry until the melted are gives way. The replacement lens will snap right on and does not really need to be melted. Makes for easier cleaning later too.

Great! Thanks for the tip. Hopefully this will be useful info for someone else, too.

I just replaced mine this afternoon. Easy as can be, and looks great! As others have said, definitely worth the money.

I really like how the headlights just pop out - it's a cool design. Luckily, I had no heat fusing problem with the clips.

I can confirm that the screwdriver did the trick.

This is a great and easy appearance upgrade; just did mine this afternoon. The only issue I ran into after the replacement was a need to shave a few of the rubber squares on the seal to get the headlight unit properly seated back in the fender.

Default problem with lens fitment

I am trying to install my replacement headlight lenses ordered from Autohaus and I can't seem to get them to lock back into posiition with the locking lever arm. Each time I try to lock the arm down it pushes the assembly back out. When I replace the old (dingy, pitted yellowed) lenses both assemblies lock back in place easily. The replacements look identical-anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks in advance,

Dave K.
