I am looking for the type that plugs into the cigar lighter, but the Porsche one is over $100. There's also a non-electronic version, but even that one's over $60.
Is there another brand model out there?

The other cig plug charger that Porsche offers is ~$50 from Sunset. It's an automatic on/off and the plug-in power supply has a red LED when it's charging. A 20 gauge 25' (approx) wire runs from the power supply to the cig plug-in and is thin enough that you can shut the door on it with no problems/damage. I've taken the additional step of placing a mini rotary switch ($3 at Home Depot) about a foot away from the cig plug-in so that I can turn it on/off while sitting in the car. (I lay cig plug-in on the garage floor within reach of the parked vehicle so I don't have to plug/unplug from the wall.)

I found this one on amazon: Schumacher battery companion. I liked the name.
$30, computer controlled. Seems to work for me.

Just picked up a charge-o-mat this weekend and works great! I looked at other battery chargers/maintainers around $49 or so.. but still had to deal with battery connect.. hood cracked open etc..
Here is a link to a site selling for $71 (no affiliation etc..)

i'd recommend a used schumacher smart charger from ebay. I picked up a 2/30/60 amp smart charger for like $30 and the smart chargers all have a maintainer mode too. The total shizznit. You get a good charger and a maintainer all in one.

I have a Sears trickle charger. Works great as long as the battery is mostly charged to start and can be wired in for a quick connect/disconnect. (Be warned that Optima batteries need more than a trickle to charge them when they get low.) When the car was stored in the garage, I had it on the trickle charger, now that it sits in the trailer, I simply kill all power with the electrical kill switch (even easier than a charger).

+1 on the schmacher battery companion. $18 at wally world. I rigged a cigarette lighter so that I never have to raise the hood.
I can definitely say to stay away from the Vector (also rebranded black and decker) maintainer - biggest piece of crap.
