Default Twisted ignition keys(s)

This is going to sound stupid, but I have ruined several ignition keys by twisting them too hard. Luckily none have broken off in the ignition switch, but after a few months the keys are cracked and I have to replace them. I have been using cheapo key blanks from a locksmith - and these things are THIN.

I don't know if my left hand is just retarded or if my ignition switch is overly tight (tiptronic), but this is a pain. Does this happen to anyone else ? Are there any heavy duty key blanks available (have not tried OEM).

Do you have a "weak" pattern, where there's a deep notch close to the base?

Try OE. This guy does amazing work, and has the factory cutting tool which nips out each notch instead of grinding. He's low tech from a web perspective, but mail him your spare key and payment and you'll be very satisfied.

Yeah - there's a notch where it cracks.

I had found too high a resistance to turning the key - one shot of a graphite lube in the lock cylinder, and now the effort is almost imperceptible ...
