Default While I'm in there (RMS & clutch)

I have been living with a RMS leak for a few months but have decided to fix it and replace the clutch at the same time (60K miles on the current clutch).
I have ordered the following replacement part:
- Sachs clutch kit (pressure plate, clutch disc, release bearing,...)
- LUK flywheel (not the lightweight, please do not start me on that) and bolts
- clutch release fork and shaft
- slave cylinder and connecting hose (my clutch pedal suffers the hanging problem)
- master cylinder
- flywheel pilot bearing
- flywheel seal
- main shaft seal

Anything else you can think of while I'm in there?

I would replace the vent valve at the top of the oil tank. Had a few of those gum up and cause the new rear main seal to leak. They are fairly cheap.

Good one! How did you get access to the valve/breather?

Don't know your mileage, and assuming you are doing an engine drop, how are your spark plug wires?

Arnaud-
Who is doing your work and why don't you try going with the LWF?
See you in the spring.

The valve on the top of the oil tank is a pressure release valve. If that valve is venting or trying to open then usually that means you have much bigger problems that will probably require an engine teardown to fix (broken rings, busted oil pump). Also, when that valve opens oil is sprayed everywhere. When you or your mechanic replaced the RMS was a genuine OE Porsche seal or one of the aftermarket (even "OEM") versions installed?

Are you dropping the engine to do this? If so, I'd definitely do the spark plugs, wires, power steering belt, SAI check valve, and fuel filter. And clean up the engine bay.

Henry @ REFINED MOTORSPORT. Concerning the LWF, I have met/spoken to enough people who have done the modification and discouraged me. Personal choice I guess.

My mechanic who has 25 year experience in repairing Porsche (including 15 at a local Porsche dealership) told me he does not need to drop the engine. But I will take the opportunity to have the 60K miles service done at the same time, including spark plugs, ....

Can you give the reasons why you were discouraged? My car is in the shop right now getting the RS LWF and clutch.

Some people like it, some people hate it. A friend of mine who had it installed on his 993 C2S told me it the worst modification he has ever done (too noisy and occasional stalling issue for the main reasons) and he regrets big time. Another friend of mine had it installed on his 1995 993 and loves it. Personal choice...
