Default ATe Super Blue brake fluid

Is this stuff ok for my stock 993 brake system? I plan on flushing with dot 3 or 4 then filling with this.

What about the clutch?

Works fine for both on a NA car (Clutch on turbo uses Pentosin and has a separate reservoir)

That is all I have been using for the last 10+ years. High boiling point is the best feature (other than the cool color).

Cheers,

Mike

ATE is really good, so is the Motul 600RBF. Can't go wrong with either really. Make sure you use a DOT4 and not DOT5. DOT5 will not allow any water absorbtion and causes issues. DOT5 is race only when you fluch the brakes constantly.

Good advice years ago, but confusing now that DOT 5.1 is available. DOT 5.1 is not silicone based.

ATE is great stuff at a reasonable price. The only downside to me personally is that it stains everything in the system blue and leaves blue residue everywhere in the system. Which is great when you put in the first batch because you can see the blue coming through. But you can no longer visually inspect the fluid level or current fluid color after you use it becasue there will always be a blue line up to full because the dye sitcks to the plastic reservoir -- and eveything else.

When you change your brake fluid twice a month, the fluid coming out is still blue, even when you switch to gold. You really have to just learn to pump in a new liter every time and how long to let each brake run. I suppose you could eventually get all the blue out but I have not been able to.

But, they also make Gold, which is exactly like the Blue, except without the dye in it. I've switched to the gold all the time now. If I had it all to do over again I would have just used gold from the beginning. It's easier to see bubbles if everything you use isn't stained blue.

If you use Blue, you use ATE. I use ATE too, I'm not condemming blue, please don't take it that way.

just my 2 cents from my experience.

Another advice... You have to flush your RBF 600 once a year too as far as I know.

Yes DOT 5.0 is not to be used on ABS systems and thus NEVER on a 993.
DOT 5.1 is the update of DOT4 and recommended for ABS systems and totally different from the first.
ALTHOUGH BOTH ARE BLUE IN COLOR on sevveral brands. TAKE CARE and buy the 5.1.
