Default my first scrape... I've learned a valuable lesson.

This morning I went to the gas station to get some air for my tires and on the way up the driveway I scraped the bottom of my newly painted turbo bumper. I feel like an idiot. First, I didn't think the car would scrape since it isn't that low. My e36 is way lower but doesn't have the same overhang as the 993. I never go up driveways straight, even in my Cadillac Deville which is stock, it's just been out of habit my whole driving life with all of my cars being low. I just didn't think I would scrape in the 993. Damn that gas station. Lol, I've learned a valuable lesson today and will remember this forever.

I will post photos later. I feel like a punk right now.

Allill, That sucks! Hopefully it's not too bad.

I'm heading down to Santana Row in a few minutes if you want to join me.

Geez - who hasn't done that? Don't worry about it. My pet peeve is those parking space concrete things that are WAY too high sometimes. You try to pull in just up to it, but misjudge it and scrape the damn underneath of the front bumper.

That does really suck but if its any consolation, most lowered 993s will experience this at one point or another. Look into getting a front protection bar.

Sorry to hear. The bottom of mine looks like I've used it to stop the car from 160 MPH.....

It is sort of a "Right of Passage" for all of us. I have seen brand new GT3's, TT, etc. on here with rash on the front. It is a price to pay for the engineering design of stability for these cars. Sucks non the less. Just means that you get her out and enjoy her...

I feel your pain. Same thing happened to be about a month after my turbo bumper & clear bra install. If you drive these cars.....s#@t happens (rock chips, ocassional scrape under the bumper, etc). It took me a long time to accept that. Just relax, drive it a lot, & enjoy!

I wish someone would come up with a FPB for those of us with a TTS spoiler... seems pretty tough, though.

Thanks everybody. This almost seems like a get well card.

I appreciate all your support while me and my bumper make it through this tough time.

Hi Jeff,

I did that the first time I drove my new, to me, car. That was five years ago and I haven't done it since! Just check that you haven't lost any of your black rubber drain things that come out of the floor. ;-)

Cheers,

David

I doubt if one could find any 911 without scrapes on the underside of the front bumper unless it was new and still sitting on the showroom floor.

Hey Allill,
We've all done it at one time or another. Not sure if a front protection bar would have saved you in this instance but if you don't already have one...they're a great investment....I don't know how many times mine has taken the brunt of a steep curb cut or driveway....definitely worth the investment.
