Ash, do they come in black? I searched earlier and saw one in black and the rest unpainted. I can dig it in black so it doesn't stand out so much against my dark color.

Allill,
I've never seen them in black. I presume that to have them in black, you'd have to paint the standard metal ones...but the moment you scraped it, it'd be down to the bare metal again. To be honest, it's not that noticeable unless you're bending down or looking at it from a low angle.

Ash,

since we're in the same city, we should meet up so I can see how it looks in person.

Allill,

Anytime....Scott (Cahrera) and I were just talking about trying to sync up sometime for a drive. I usually go on the Superbowl Sunday drive but this weekend is tight on the schedule side so I'll have to miss it this year.

Front protection bar will not always help. It will save you from big scrapes though.

The good news is the first scrape is out of the way. Now you don't have to sweat it. At least it is in a place few folks will ever notice.

Can't wait to see this beauty in person.

Yeah, I can't wait to show you and the rest of the rl'ers at the next drive. I've never gone on a group drive before and look forward to it. Tomorrow would be fun but the girlfriend won't let me out.

When I had the bar, I took some black gaffer's tape (tape that photographer's and cinema lighting guys use) and covered the brushed silver finish of my Gert FPB. It held up pretty well. When it got too raggedy, I removed it and placed another piece one. Black racer's tape might work even better since the adhesive is a bit more waterproof and about as tenacious as the gaffer's tape.

I even thought of hitting the FPB with some black spray paint, but that seemed like a bit too much work at the time.

I have had mine on for over 3 years and didn't like the chrome look against my dark body...so, I put a peice of 2" black duct tape on it and yes on the very bottom, the tape has scraped off...but from in front of the car you can't even see it.

This thread makes me feel better. I pull up for a dentist appointment to one of those concrete things and scrrraaaappppeeee. Then I pull out of the lot carefully and a little askew and scrrrraaaappppeee again. Ugh.

Jeff, I know the feeling all too well. I did my first and only scrape on my turbo front which I had on my Targa in front of a whole bunch of people watching 60 P's leave a Hong Kong dock on route for a nice drive to the Shanghai F1 track. Nothing like public embarrasment to cap off personal agony! Now, with Project Orange (on the few times I have gotten to drive her), I get to lightly scrape the RS bumper nearly every time I drive down into my apratment car park. It makes me wince.

I try and comfort myself that road rash and bumper scrapes should be worn like medals. As people have said it means we use and enjoy our babies.

All the best,
