Default Track Set-up

Hi

I Have a 993RS that Im using more and more on the track, however the car is still set-up softish for the street.

Im after advice and direction with regards to turning it more track focused....im also not that bothered about it being slightly compromised on the street as the roads here are quite good.

Any advice with regards to ride height, damper settings, anti roll bar settings and camber etc would be gratefully received. The car will be running semi slicks as well.

look forward to reading the posts

Not sure how many RS boys are on rennlist as that model wasn't available in the US I don't think.

You might have better luck here:

The best setup IMO for very aggressive street and track is to go with the Moton Club Sports. They are dual adjustable so you can fine tune the car on the track and offer a variety of spring choices. On my race car I have JRZ's which are similar to the Motons, but I think the JRZ's are overkill for what you need , not to mention that with both street and track you will need to rebuilt them every year. I also started with 700lbs front and 900lbs rear springs, my setup obviously is more track oriented. If I was to drive the car on the street I would opt for 600lbs and 800 lbs springs with tenders.
As for roll bars, you have the RS you are fine. I usually have mine either at mid or full stiff and then play with the front to dial out the ugly understeer. With camber in the -2 range up to -3 its great for the track and you need to pay attention on the street. How much front and rear it depends on the rest of the setup. More negative front is less understeer, but you may run into the problem of snap oversteer. I have ended up with -2.4 front and -2.9 rear and I still need to dial up more camber upfront due to the understeer I have. Finally the RS height I think its fine for use both off and on the track.

Moton club sports are my vote and what I have on my car. Supposedly, they have a greater time between rebuilds than JRZ's. Lots of threads in the archives.

"600lbs and 800 lbs" sholud be perfect for ME-roads!
If there only were more of the OLD911s here in Dubai used like a sport&fun-car.
If you wanna lose some more weight, you can also change glas to plast windows and remove the original seats - there are lighter ones to find.
Is the engine still stock? -there are better cam´s avail. Found mine on the internet ( recom by the last german at hoc )

Cars:
964,993,993Turb....not stock!

Motons for sure. You can use stiff springs, and still have a good ride on the street. Since you have an RS, you can lower it to a good level with the Motons and not have any bump steer issues...

Steve ended up having me go w/ 500/700# springs on the motons. Said going over 600/800 tends to make things bouncy on uneven tracks. Currently the ride is actually softer than full hard pss-9's on the street even w/ monoballs. Running slicks may change setup parameters though.

Default he shouldn´t lower too much

...everytime I ve to drive very very slow over these stupid speed bumps.

I think Gert has some sort of pipe avail that will resist hits under the front-end, but for the rear there´s still nothing on the market yet.

I think also the red Turbo which was hit by a Corvette last year (Yusef) has nothing mounted on the front and it was scratched already like my 911.

That is not NEARLY enough spring for that car with 2WD. I ended up with 900/1200. Very nice ride on the street with the Motons. I tried 800/1000 first, but not enough spring. Whoever said it would be too bumpy did not know how to adjust it properly. My setup was also smoother than PSS9s. Motons are just fantastic, if you set them up right.

I have 700/900 lbs on my car and find it to be a great compromise between the glassy smoothness of Watkins Glen to the bumpy hell of Summit Point. I believe Greg Fishman ran 900/1200 on his JRZ's, but I'm not sure I'm inclined to fiddle with my combination and go stiffer since I'm turning near-964 cup car times in my overweight 993, at least at Summit (damn lap timer was malfunctioning the last time I was at the Glen and after I got the suspension dialed in). I think there's much value in having a car that is forgiving and can inspire enough confidence in an average driver (like me) to be able to toss the car around with abandon and put down some fast times. Perhaps a stiffer combo would allow me to eke out that last 2/10th's of a second but the price may be that crossing over the limit results in a brittle handling experience. Maybe as I get faster, I'll want a super-stiff combo. You Wolf Henzlers out there are free to disagree.

That is about right Mark for a NA car. Going to higher on a NA car should really have some other solid suspension points.

Brad has a high HP turbo, with soon to be more power. He is 2WD with a Motorsport diff too. So with his setup, 500/700 is rediculous.

I also have the 700/900 lb springs with Moton Club Sports; a very nice combo of stick but not shaking the fillings out of my teeth.
Hey Mark - I should have talked with you before I bought my car. Oh,wait, I did
