Default ROLEX 24 Day One Pictures

Pit-Passes in hand, we got some nice action at the ROLEX 24. It was amazing how close to the action we cold get in the pits...within feet literally. Took over 75 pics, here are a few. More to follow:

I almost forgot to mention that, while most of the cars sounded wonderful whizzing by, those damn RX-8s were torture on the ear-drums. They sounded more like a buzz-saw at 14000rpms than any resemblance of a race engine...quite irritating IMO.

Great pics, thank you! I especially love the fact that Porsche has a part number for 997 plexi windows. What other manufacturer actually includes such serious race bits in their parts catalogue?

I don't know if the 2nd place Pontiac GXP even has a performance catalogue. In addition, it's a total BS full tube chassis race car built by Pratt & Miller as a REAR WHEEL DRIVE car. The GXP you could buy if you were so inclined is a front wheel drive car. The Porsches run their standard unibody chassis in race trim. Not exactly equal rule application in my opinion.

There are two sets of rules for the GT cars. The RX-8 falls under the same set of rules as the Pontiac.
