I like this from that link:

"Honestly, who ever believed that Porsche earns €21,799, more than USD$28,000, on every vehicle it sells? B&D Forecast should give the intern that wasn't sharp enough to catch this error a few good lashings".

Yep, looks like Porsche only makes 6x as much per car than the next most profitable manufacturer, not 8x. Glad they cleared that up. Wouldn't want anyone to get the wrong impression.

So after reading the Porsche explanation - here are the revised numbers:

Pre-Tax profit of Porsche was 2110 million Euros (2.743 billion US$).
Subtract the 203 million euros from VW and the 80 million from CTS and you're at: 1827 million euros (US$ 2,350 million).

Divide that by 100,000 cars and you're still at 18,270 Euros per Vehicle (23,750 US$ per car)

You also have to subtract out the, "...income from hedging transactions in connection with the VW participation resulted in a considerable three-figure amount in millions." so it is more than €203mm. Looking at the income statement in the annual report, it looks like about €500mm total from the VW biz and other financial income.

God Bless them. You pay for what you get and I have never complained paying more for a quality product.
