Sometimes I Wish I Had a Turbo
And somtimes not... it changes weekly and my flakiness around cars never ends... I think I was meant to have one of each...but my wallet hasnt figured that out yet
One of the most tempting modern Porsches is the GT1-derived 996tt...now at very reasonable prices when you consider the performance...
Here is a 2003 Arctic Silver/Black with 16k mileage in Dallas LIST PRICE is $70k... no affiliation, blah blah. Not as special/unique as a 993, but damn good "value" in supercar terms I think...

Jonathan,
you are just going to have to start-up a new piggybank,
because I don't think you are going to feel good about
selling the S.

Mrsullivan,
I actually bought my 993 from these guys two years ago. The car was very clean, needed a 30K, rotors, brakes, rear tires. All of the safety items were covered and he cut me a break on the 30K service. FYI- these all turned up in the PPI and I have a good tech that I could recommend. They don't negotiate on price very much but with these cars but there is not a lot of wiggle room on these cars to begin with. PM if you want more details, I have some more information on my experience worth noting if you are serious about this car.

Jonathan,
Any Porsche turbo is a great car. I truly believe that if one can swing the finances, every car enthusiasts should own (at least drive extensively) a turbo once. The driving experience is just so much beyond most other cars.
If I can only choose one, it'd be the 993tt. Well, Ruf will do nicely too.
Hope you get yours soon.

The 996TT especially with the X50 package is a rocket ship.

I don't like the look nearly as much as the 993, but, I drove one last year that was completely stock and was very impressed all around. In fact the power was so great I was convinced I had to sell my car and get one. I don't know how the drivign experience changes with suspension mods similar to what most 993 enthusiasts do but imagine the improve the experience. I'm glad I kept my current car - there still are very few cars that on looks alone do the same thing for me. Of course now I can't get the supercharger idea or the ninemeister heads mods out of my mind.........

mrsullivan, I know the feeling. But I decided instead to embark on Project Orange which includes a Ninemeister +3 pack (if it works out, more torque and lower down than a 997 GT3 but not more power though - a donor car was tested at 357hp@6235rpm & 458Nm@4,700 ) and loose a little weight (400 plus lbs). I will tell you all how it works out, but the way things are going it may not be before July! The boys are still working on the stripped body. Last Saturday when I checked in the sunroof structure was being removed.
All the best,
All the best,
