996 shift ****/boot question & WTB
OK, I have given up finding the **** I want so I am going to "make" my own.
Does this **** (pic below) have the collar under the boot to attach to our shifter?
Anyone know how these come apart? Is the aluminum removeable in some way or glued in place?
I need to remove the aluminum and shift pattern insert to have them powder coated black. Also need to refinish the wood in a black stain.
Anyone have a wood 996 shift know they want to sell? Just need the **** of course.
Thanks!

I have the above shift **** in black leather and with a silver shift pattern insert. Very nice feel. It too was mounted to a 996 shifter boot, but is really easy to swap over to a 993 boot. I also had the above shift **** in carbon fiber, but much prefer the leather one.

Mark,
In design, I think this is the exact same boot that Steve has been wrangling with in his recent THREAD . You should be able to attach your boot to the underside of this **** using a zip-tie or equivilent. Flip the boot upside down over the ****, attach tightly, and then roll the boot back down to its normal position.

Thanks Max
Does this style (pictured above) have the locking collar originally or is this something that Gert or others modify to fit our cars?

Mark, same collar with set-screw. Very easy swap.

Thanks, Max and Andreas for confirmation!
Anyone ever try to remove the aluminum on these? Either the leather or wood versions?
