Default Dead Battery...

It's been on a battery charger/maintainer for 6 days. Went to start it today - clickclickclickclickclick. WTF!?!?!?!?!

Guess I'll pull the less-than-1-year-old Optima out and get it tested.

My dead battery back in early Oct. cost me a lot! I went to roll start the car down the driveway, and my leg popped the door open into my truck
The good thing about the hole ordeal is it gave me the excuse to do some updates, and a face lift , what sucks is my new door wont be in from Germany until Jan 29th

PS - My battery was the original that finally went bad after almost 10 years, not too bad..

Don't feel too badly; there is no correlation between how much you spent on a battery and its lifespan --sorry, couldn't help myself. Forgive the smugness ).

Seriously, that does suck. BTDT. FWIW, I've never had a problem with exchanging a batt on a pro-rated basis ...and that's probably because vendors do is with such frequency even with new-ish batteries that it doesn't even phase them.

And speaking of "cost," better that you catch it now before it toasts your alternator. That happened to me; now THAT's one costly battery.

gordo - what was the "age" date on the battery? I purposely did not buy my Optima from CostCo or on -line b/c of concerns re: age. I just got mine from AutoZone with a 11/06 date sticker.
No matter, it's still a pia and time waster to deal with.

**UPDATE**

Just got back from place of purchase (AutoZone). They tested the battery and found 7v under load (not enough to start the car) and post-load rebound of only 9v = defective battery. Replaced @ no cost.

The thing that surprised me the most - the jump in price for Optima batteries. The exact battery that I bought in March for $109.00 is now selling for $149!!! Wow!

The new one is installed and on the maintainer.

Cool, glad you got it free despite the increase in price.
