I miss my RX7 (video w/ 996 GT3)

That's funny. I bought a new RX-7 in 1986 after my GT-3 TR-6 got blown away by a passel of them on the back straght at Road Atlanta during the 1985 runoffs.
Immediately wished I'd bought the Turbo version instead.

That was fun! Is it spring yet?
The vibrating camera made it feel like you were going warp speed - is that thing mounted with some duct tape or something??

rx7s are great cars.
However, Id take the rotary out of a 93 fd, replace it with a stock LS6 crate motor, and have a stone reliable 350rwhp car, with practically no weight or cg penalty.

I once got a chance to drove my friend's tweaked 3rd gen RX-7 at Buttonwillow. I LOVED driving that car. At the time I was tracking my Mustang Cobra (which I let him drive). We both agreed that the lap times were pretty close between the two cars (I was faster in both cars... hahaha), the Rx7 was soooo much easier to drive fast. What a hoot.

I sold my 93 RX-7 Twin Turbo to buy my 993... and I was immediately disappointed in how the P-car handled! The RX was so neutral... you could induce oversteer whenever you wanted, but I was never afraid of it swapping ends on me... Very easy to drive fast! I immediately installed PSS9's and turbo sways and my C2S was transformed! I loved the RX-7, but there's no way I would go back!

Pardon my ignorance but is the Car in the video not a third gen RX-7 looks like the swoopy dash, not the rectangular one of the earlier models.
That video is cool, I would have guessed a 3 rotor for the vibration. The two is way to smooth, especially at high RPM, But the wind theory make s more sense

A 3 rotor motor wouldn't vibrate anymore than a two rotor. I think it has to do with the 140+ speeds and the 900lbs springs plus, wind.
Here is another cool video on VIR's Grand course. I highly recommend everyone who is close enough to VIR try this. I know BMW and Mazda rent VIR in this configuration. I have a feeling it will soon catch on with other clubs. FWIW best lap time is 3:07 here is the video: http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...89084541750226
