I think I would be in but ...from reading other threads I get the impression these are "standard" chips for a 993 which is essentially stock and to get a custom chip for a modified car (intake, Fabspeed, etc.) the only choice would be a custom dyno chip but the only guy who can really do that is that fellow in England?

In other words ... You put the Autothority chip in and that's it, can't then take the car to a local dyno tuner like I do with my motorcycles and a Dynojet Power Commander 3 ?

I will say I'm on the fence at this point with Christmas and the Rolex 24 trip until you get a quote, but I will be honest I am partial to Steves Weiner's Equipment (Rennsport) and his endless support.

I just have to add my $.02 worth. I have Steve W.'s chip from Rennsportsystems http://www.rennsportsystems.com/ and I know that I hade to give him my # on the box under my seat then discuss gas grades available and even though mine is a 95, it was not just a plug and play without his questions and help. He has chimed in on these threads before and I would assume he is just bitting his tounge on this one. I don't know anything about authority, but I do know Steve's chip and the help he gave me in not only the purchase, but the setup. As a site sponser, why not call him?

I agree. This is the GIAC chip is it not? If I'm confused, please set me straight as there is enough confusion on this topic as is!

Also agree that the final orders must include ECU number, gas requirement, and mods if applicable (possibly at extra cost if not an existing chip option). A one size fits all approach will surely leave some disappointed.

rcwelch...I'm with you on this one. In a past thread I read Steve memtioned that he need the numbers off the computer box in order to program the chip.

To clarify: There are two (2) Steve W's.
Steve Weiner of Rennsport (a sponsor) my preference.
Steve Wong of 911chips.com

for those who are considering the different chip, a while ago i dyno tested three chips.

1 - GIAC chip (from Steve)
2 - Autothority
3 - Factory Stock Chip

there was a very minor horsepower difference. The GIAC added 3 hp, if memory serves the autothority added 1 hp over the factory.

The real difference is in part throttle.

cheers,
boris

Anybody with a '95 just wants that 3k-4k hole filled up as much as possible.

Is that a $3-4k hole or a 3-4k rpm hole...? Ha... wait, not kidding exactly.

I agree with Boris...my '95 had the most difference in the midrange.

Boris, so which was your choice? or did they both fill the mid range hole equally? and the obvious choice was the 3hp gain from Rennsport ?
