Put em on my Cab. Too loud! Embarassing to drive down my street. Couldn't wait to take them off. I had them with RSR mufflers. I felt the RSRs were too quiet, so I sold them to a Rennlister. Now I have Fabspeed Maxflows and am very happy.

As I said I have observed a rancid exhaust on maybe 1 out of 5 cat less 964 and 993. I suspect oil, it's definitly not the rich mixture smell from a well tuned car or the sweet smell of a properly functioning cat.

When you don't reflash the ECU for no cats, you end up with a slightly richer mixture, hence the smell of exhaust. Not bad......just is.

I removed the cats from my 94C2 about a year ago -retained standard box. Great improvement in both sound and performance (perhaps imagined and the result of the louder exhaust note) but have noticed both an increase in fuel consumption and that "old car smell" Could you give some advice re reflashing the ECU which was not done at the time - O2 sensors still in place - Thanks

Hi Trevor,

I think the post was referring to speeding up the way the ECU adapts to changing circumstances. It will adapt to the slight differences caused by the loss of the cat after a while but you can kick-start this process by doing something. Chris is that what you were referring to?

I didn't make any changes when I put sports cats on the car is fine.

Cheers,

David

Morning David,
Thanks for the response. If the ECU adjusts itself over a period it's probably done that by now. Still it would be nice to have that bit of info. I'll check with our local OPC and other local Pcar boffins at the races here in CT tomorrow.

Keith, if I had Gillettes on my car, I'd buy your pipes from you.

Sounds like your still plugging away at the modifications on that baby.

I'm sure someone will confirm or clarify.
