2) It seems like an easy mod. Can any muffler shop do this kind of work?
3) In terms of sound volume, where does this mod fit? i.e. loudness somewhere between RSR's and Fabspeed Maxflows?

2) Yes, muffler shops can do this, but make sure they do quality work, and you should have it welded with stainless ( you can use regular steel wire/rod, but it will rust).
3)Unsure. You would have to find someone who has done a side-to-side comparison.

Hey Darin,
Enjoyed meeting you last Friday, you did some awesome work on my mufflers!
I just got them installed last night, have not started the car yet though
I took a few pictures that I'll post soon showing the craftsmanship and quality of the welds, I can't wait to get home and fire up the beast
Thanks again!

I listened to a red cab that had the 2 inch pipe mod done over the last Tony Callas tech session. I thought it was a little on the loud side. I do admit the car was parked against a cement block building with metal doors which probably didn't help. Does smaller diameter pipe such a 1.0 or 1.5 inch make it any quieter? I would be interested in listening to the mod with smaller pipe if someone in Southern California has done it.

I did mine with 1.75 pipe because I couldn't decide between 1.5 and 2.0.

I love the sound. I can barely hear it with the windows up but sounds very good yet still muffled with the windows down. My wife took the car yesterday and again, it sounded awesome as she drove away around the corner.
Unlike many exhausts I have heard, this setup seems to be most noticeable at low rpm. As the rpm increases, the sound doesn't get progressively louder so it never really gets intrusive in my opinion. Must be something with the high velocity gases flowing through the baffles muffling any noise going through the bypass. Whatever, it is it works!
If I'm in town, I'll try to be at El Toro on Saturday. Otherwise you are welcome to come to my house in Anaheim any time.

I think you may notice a diffrence with 1" pipe, as oppsed to 2", but it will probably be subtle.

Not even close to the "loud side".

Well I finally got my car out on the raod with the LPMM's on there, man they sound nice. This is a great mod for a mostly street car, sound is deeper and more authoratative off idle and at part throttle. At redline its only marginally lounder than stock, prolly due to the increased gas speeds, zooming right past the bypass and into the muffler. But I really like the sound so far
I'll report back after Sears Point (Infineon) next weekend as to how these fair with a helmet on.
Thanks again Darin, and the father of the LPMM Leland!
