It turned out that the small switches behind the passenger side panel were not properly tripping during actuation. Relatively painless to adjust.

Sorry, couldn't resist, I've "been there, done that" in Finland. While it's cruel to not to be able to drive, I like wrenching winter projects too. And that first drive when the spring comes, oh yea!
Just substitute July/August for "winter" and join in!

Mark -

While the engine is out, you might want to replace the SAI check valve.

Jeff, first, thanks for the suggestion!

Second, my 993 is a 95, do I need to? Is there a downside if it doesn't function at all?

No practical downside.

Glad it was a simple fix. Some of the prices of fixing tops with issues seem really exorbitant.

Pedro, make sure to run your a/c for a few minutes any time you drive. The "freon" help lubricate and keeps the seals from drying out.

Okay, I'll play...

993

Short shift install
Paint wheels
Steering rack brace (need to verify if there or not) It's there - DONE!
LPMM
Replace hood crest gasket
Badge delete (maybe)
Paint rear grill/bumperettes (maybe)
Trunk/decklid struts - Done
3-spoke wheel - Done (sweet!)
Repair sunroof - Done (dirty plug)

Drive, Drive, Drive!

911

Final debug carbs
Repair main seal(leak)
Trailing arm bushings
Paint race wheels
Modify swaybar links

Drive, Drive, Drive!

I suspect most of these will become New Year's resolutions rather than winter projects!

Drive with aplomb through snow drifts
Clean off the salty slush whenever it gets above freezing
Perhaps replace the stereo head unit with an iPod friendly one
Install RS Front splitters if I can find a good deal
Fix things as needed to keep car operational.

Come spring/summer:

Replace shocks with Bilsteins all around
Maybe replace the clutch
Catch up any maintenance that it was too cold to do all winter.
