Question Hello again, Porsche transport

Hello all.

I was a Porsche enthusiast and had a '96 993, which I had bought new and had for about 4 years. In that time I got my friend Rob involved and he bought a couple of 993s including his last one, the S. I know some of you know Rob and I'm not sure of his username here but he moved down to Atlanta a couple of years ago and probably ran into a few of you at track events, etc.

Unfortunately Rob lost a 1.5 year battle with cancer a month ago. He was 37 years old and leaves two young children as well as a Porche that he loved dearly. As I am his best friend and godfather of his son it falls to me to take the 993 and store it for the next 15 years when his son will be of age and be given the car. I originally planned on flying down and picking up the car but my wife just delivered our baby last week and it's looking impossible before the winter weather sets in.

What I'm asking is for recommendations on transport with a reputable company to transport the car from Atlanta to central NJ. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Sean

Ditto on Intercity. Sad story, glad he got to enjoy the cars before his death.

Hi Sean - and welcome to Rennlist....!

I'm sorry to hear about the loss as well...

I'll also vouch for Intercity. they've been a Rennlist Sponsor for quite some time, and for all the moves they've done for Rennlisters through the years, are highly recommended.. You can get a free quote from them here: http://mall.rennlist.com/transport/

I hope this helps...

He was Rob A. I'd rather not post his last name. If you would like further information just email me at t3chi3@msn.com.

Thanks for the recommendation all. I'll give them a call.

Damn, 37?! My condolences to you and his family. Terrible. It will be a fine day when you present his son with the 993.

Intercity. Don't scrimp on this, its not worth it.

Thanks for the kind comments. He was a special guy and I'm going to take care of the car as I would my own, in fact better.

Towards that end I'll be here time and again asking advice, especially on storage issues.

Bill at DeMoise hauled my E320 wagon (aka F1 Medical Car Wanabe) from LA to MA with outstanding service. Price was right too.

Sad story - but it's a great thing that you're keeping that car for him, that will be something very special. You can teach him all about these cars as he grows up, and by the time he's ready to take the keys, he can look at the car with the same appreciation his dad surely had for it.

Very sorry for the lost and my condolences to you and his family. If Intercity doesn't work out with your time window I recommend calling Bill at DeMoise Trucking. Many on this board have used him without any problems. Good Luck.

Sean, I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. I also recently used DeMoise to ship a car from NY to CA and the service was great, price was reasonable....Congratulations on your new baby!
