Default Where to buy Becker Traffic Pro 7800

in another post it mentioned that the Becker Traffic Pro 7800 can be bought at clearance shops. I googled for it but did not find it.

Does someone of you has in idea where it is still sold?

Thanks
Erik

crutchfeild had these about 2 years ago for $350 or so

I think the stock on these has long since dried up

I wish someone would come out with an OE looking nav unit like this that dosent have the pull out busy screen and just simple directions like the harmon/kardon becker traffic pro unit. I am not a fan of current aftermarket units as they have too many colors, are silver and look like they belong in something other then a Porsche.

I had a traffic pro that i sold about 6 months ago, my reason in doing was that i couldnt get anything to hook up to it to get it to play stuff off an ipod, which i consider a 1000 disc cd changer and was somewhat manditory. Thats the only negative i had with the traffic pro.

It might be worth checking out www.swstereo.com - they still show it on their site.

You may try a Ferrari dealer. They use thes becker units in their current cars that come with navigation.

I would hate to know what a Ferrari dealer charges for one of these though. OUCH! $3,000 maybe?

Contact Becker of North America, 16 Park Way, Upper Saddle River, N.J, 07458 (201) 327-3434 (888) 423-3537 info@harmanbecker.us. They sell refurbished units and may have what you're looking for. Good luck....

Thank you for your answers so far. I just emailed Becker in Germany (I am German) and asked them about compatability of the newer Models which still look conservative but have more technology. They cost about 650 USD in German internet stores. If there are newer models I buy in Germany and just need a USA Map CD.

I am looking forward to more suggestions.

Erik

P.S. I just upgraded to the 3 spoke wheel yesterday. What a great mod!!!

Be patient and you will find one in the US.
You wouldn't want one without the US maps, although they are downloadable on p2p.
I have had mine since they came out 7820 HighSpeed, works perfect.
One important thing is to connect the reverse signal.
Although it works without, it will get lost every two weeks if you don't hook the reverse signal, then you would have to insert the Nav. cd for the unit to relocate itself, and users think its problematic.
BTW, it has an ipod connection, you could buy a plug for this or purchase the ipod kit from Becker directly.
On newer models, you can control your ipod from the unit, but on the 7820, only from the ipod.
I hooked my ipod the first day I installed the unit.

The ones that were being sold cheap and blown out on clearance at Crutchfield and other places was not the Becket 7800 but the Harmon Kardon version of it's predecessor (#4773?)...does nearly everything the Becker 7800 does but for much less. It looks almost the same and has a Porsche "factory" look to it. I bought one for I think $200-225....I'm not a fan of nav systems so wasn't sure if I will ever use it but I figured I couldn't lose at that price....one of these I will get around to installing it.

The one thing to consider if you are getting a Euro-spec model is that you will not have access to all U.S. AM radio stations IIRC.

I just called, http://www.swstereo.com/Products/Bec...ker_recs.shtml, and they stock the US Version Traffic Pro for $650.00 includes the CD. I spoke to a very friendly gentlemen that would reccomend the Becker Monza for a sound upgrade from the CDR-210. The Monza is $550.00 this is the european version so the AM will not work here. As for the traffic pro, he stated there is no sound upgrade from the CDR-210. I think Im going for the Monza.....

Anyone interested in buying a CDR-210 w/18k miles on it?

I've heard good things about the Monza and IIRC a few Rennlisters have installed this. The plus for the TP is that you get nav functions and you can control a Phatbox. The AM for the Monza does work but you just don't get every channel.
