OT: supreme test of a paintless dent guy (on my Scion)
My Scion got vandalized while in the hands of my son. For reasons not worthy of discussion, I don't want to file a claim with my insurance company. My body shop wants to replace both the door and the hatch for a proper repair. ~$2500. Gulp. There goes my seats for Rufus.
Or.... I'm gonna see if a paintless dent guy can get 95% of the way there. Notice the dent is in some "creased" areas. I'm willing to live with the Scion being slightly less than perfect... it is after all, just a Scion.
Any thoughts? I told the guy to plan on spending most of his day on this car.

Looks like it will be a difficult case at best. The general rule for our paintless
dent removal guys here in the Northeast is `softball size' being the largest
they can handle. It looks like most of yours are larger. They also are into edge
areas that increase the difficulty of repair. I understand there is a new `pulling'
technique which some are doing now but I don't know much about it. It may
be just a Scion but dang it looks like new car! Having to deal with that damage
would aggravate me to the max! Would the salvage yard have the parts
you need?

Brew,
I'm hoping, due to the fact that the Scion is basically pressed from three Kirin Light beer cans, that these larger dents might be reasonably well fixed. The skins are very light and pliable. I'll know tomorrow.

dang steve that sucks- is that two dents or one dent? I've seen the guy I used in OC work magic on cars with much thicker sheet metal, it might not get back to perfect but it will be a lot better after he works it out for a bit

Steve,
FWIW I used Final touch in Van Nuys to remove a dent from the front drivers side fender of the 993 last year. The shop vac got mad at the car and jumped off the shelf and hit the car. They did excellent work. They should be able to make t look much better.

Wow, sorry to see that... some people.
I sure am looking forward to seeing the after shots though. Some of those guys can work miracles but I think this would be the equivalent of a Masters Thesis for a PDR artist... good luck to ya.

If you can find a PDR guy confident enough to have a go at it, my bet is that he would be able to do a pretty decent job on that. Looking forward to the results.

damn, what did you do to that car, did you get mad no one would play catch with you and throw hardballs at it from all angles. Honestly i have seen cars with these kind's of dings on them, but how the hell did you get them! seriously is the sheet metal so thin that if you touch it it deforms or something? The car looks nice and new, but how the hell did you get so many huge scars?
