62 impala, 3 on the column, and no, driving a car with a shifter near the steering wheel is not even close enough. Have you ever tried speed shifting a 3 on the tree?? talk about vague!!

We had TWO. I was wondering if anyone was gonna bring up this truck. My dad had a "nice" F-100 with AC, cloth seat inserts and a 390 c.i. V8. I marveled at how it did 35 in first gear, uphill. Sold before I could drive. Second one was a total weirdo: '75 Granada SEDAN with the 240 c.i. I6. That was my high school car, and I did my best to destroy it. Actually kind of fun in the mid-atlantic rain / slush / mud (lawn job) conditions. Am I the only one who thinks he's been "drifting" since about 1985? What's all the fuss?

At 38, am I one of the "young" guys? Either way, no one younger than me that grew up in the states seems to have first-hand experience with these trannies.
