I understand where you're coming from, Eric. I have always questioned the value of these aftermarket mods, which is why I was so willing to go back to the stock airbox in the first place. But there's no question in my mind that the car isn't as torquey now. I can feel it.

What do you want us to tell you??? If its too loud, it's too loud and live with it. Don't ever buy a MAF kit cause that will be WAY too loud.......

IMHO it's all in your head. I did some data logging with & without the cup airbox on the same stretch of road (3rd gear runs 2500-6000rpm). The data showed that the cup airbox was good for maybe 4-5 hp, but only above 4500 rpm. It's pretty much imperceptible.

I drilled my airbox just like in the pictures above. It made a nice sound when I was giving it some, but more power? Not in my car anyway.
I just installed some new Fabspeed mufflers and they are quite loud. Don't do this if you want a quiet ride either.
I always read about claimed HP gains from Air boxes, mufflers etc, but I can't feel it.
Cheers

The hole pattern that Porsche molded into the airbox lid on the motorsound lid is clearly visible on the stock lid if you angle the outside surface under the light.
I couldn't believe it when my motorsound cover arrived and I compared the two.
I could have drilled the holes myself. The chrome stack does dress up the
engine compartment though, and since I'm into Concour... Drilling out that
pattern may be a starting point. Large holes like those shown in previous posts will put you back into the noise level that you weren't fond of. Since I sold you
the freakin' stock lid the least I could do is share my observations.

Don't feel bad. I want the louder sound, but less torque. Does anyone know how to disconnect the varioram? Would doing so even reduce the torque???

I have a related question - does anyone know how to convert my 3.6 to a 3.4L?

As a newbie, I am getting used to the way these boards work... It seems like about 2/3 of you are very supportive and helpful and the other 1/3 seem to fit into the "*****" category.

Thanks to the 2/3.

Holy s41T you guys.. you're relentless. I doubt my inake got me power but it did drop weight and I like the sound. Pffffft. When I'm done with my weight loss regime it will be like adding 10 HP to my car..

Thanks to the 2/3.
It's just a bit of harmless fun. I doubt they mean to offend.

Your analysis is correct, except in the Off-Topic forum, where the proportions are reversed (2/3 Porcupines).
