Default help with program remote. I am missing something.

Help,

One of my remote has run out of battery I have replaced the battery and the remote will not operate the doors alarm ect. The 2nd key still works fine. I figure the program was lost do to the extreme lack of power.

I have follow the directions in the manual. As fellows but have been unsuccessful.

1.unlock the door, then lock and unlock it again within 5 seconds.

2.open the door and switch on the ignition within another 10 seconds.
Note the warning light in the clock will come on and then go off after 15 sec.

3.switch the ignition off and on within 5 sec. The warning light will come on and will start flashing after 15 sec. (mine did not flash at this point)

4.you must then start entering the code number within 5 seconds.

I can’t think of what I am doing wrong. Except before step one I have the car locked and alarmed armed with the remote and step away from the car for a while and then start step 1 unlock the door then lock and unlock with the remote. Is it possible you need to do this step with the keys and not the remote?

Help on this matter will be very appreciated.

I think you are onto something. I've never had to do it, but the dealer once told me to do the locking/unlocking sequence with the key, not the remote.

Default hay I got the 2nd keys to work. but not with the program.

I read in the manual that if the remote will not lock or unlock but the LED on the remote still works. Then hold it close to the window and operate the remote 3 times in 10 secs.

I did that and it works.

I guess this for a key that has already been program in the pass but is not working for some reason. This may be a reset feature on the key. Maype porsche do really know what they are doing.

I read the othe post on programing. sure don't want to program anything.

thanks for the response.
