I think this car was for sale a year ago and was advertised in the paper. I was not in the market then but I still called about the car.
If it is the same car the owners name was Joe and he got the car from a friend and he has not driven it much. The reason he wanted to sell it last year was to get back into a Ferrari! The price he was asking last year was $85,000 CDN, so he has come way down in price if it is the same car.
The story you are hearing from him is the same as last year. He probably floated the car at that super high price to see if anybody would bite, so now he has lowered it. If it checks out, it sounds like one fine car.
BTW I payed $65,000 CDN for a 1997 C2S with 39,000km this past May.
Good luck.

There are too many red flags in that description for my taste. Check carefully.

doberdog,

yup, thats him....Joe, and he took delivery of his new F430 today.....He owns a cmpany called Hllywood jeans, I think they are just in Canada rght now....

I will do an intense ppi if I go ahead with it.....

I am trying to decide between that one, and one offered to me by a fellow rennlister. Its a black 96 c4s with 74K km, and seems to be very clean. Its is from a local montreal guy as well.

Do u know if there are any recalls on this model, or something that should be done. Its still the origonal rotors and says I can do another 6K miles on them, and the origonal suspension and clutch...will these need changing soon?

well guys,

I saw and test drove the car (96 c4s with 22K miles)..it is very clean and drives well. I gave him a deposit and balance pending ppi outcome....(remember he mentioned humidity and had to chang all seals)....

well here is the real deal:
I have a copy of his maintenance records:

-replaced rack and pinion: why would anyone need to do that...was this a common problem?
-changed 3 belts, dont know which ones...I have the part #s.
-all the standard 24K service, oils, filters, plugs, dist cap and rotor,
-re & re complete engine nd tranny...what does this mean?
-detach tranny, reseal tranny case,
-replace full clutch system, replace fr and rear crank seals (these are the seals he is talking about). His mechanic says he has no idea what he is saying when he says "humidity".

whats your take on this service....any alarms?

also, is it normal for porsches to be missing a little oil every few months (even though there is no leak) like my corrado?

Yes, that's common.

-changed 3 belts, dont know which ones...I have the part #s.

There are only 3 belts (without counting the distributor); there are: alternator, fan and AC compressor, so he changed them all.

-all the standard 24K service, oils, filters, plugs, dist cap and rotor,

Good.

-re & re complete engine nd tranny...what does this mean?

?? No clue what "re" or "nd" means

-detach tranny, reseal tranny case,

Maybe they changed the seals while the tranny was out for new clutch.?

-replace full clutch system, replace fr and rear crank seals (these are the seals he is talking about). His mechanic says he has no idea what he is saying when he says "humidity".

New clutch job, changed the seals for good measure and because the owner maybe noticed some oil seepaga or "sweat"

whats your take on this service....any alarms?

No...

You can expect up to 1 quart of oil every 2000 miles or so and still be OK by Porsche standard.

Sounds like a great find...pull the trigger and start enjoying that puppy!

"re and re" is a variant of "r&r" for --remove and replace--. "nd" is a typo for --and--.

When I talked to him it sounded like an owner who did what needed to be done and didn't care about the price. I hope it works out, I almost bought it last year.

There's a fellow customer at http://www.holleransperf.com/ who is selling his low mileage silver C4S with factory aerokit. Call or email John at Holleran's for more info. No affiliation with Holleran's or the car, just passing on the information to a fellow rennlister. Good luck in your search!
