Default Top Speed Run

I was on an open stretch of road yesterday and explored the top speed just to experience it once. 162-163 mph (the speedo isn't easy to read up there). Didn't notice my RPMs but was in 6th and the car stopped accelerating. Scary and stupid, I know, but it was definitely an experience I won't soon forget. 85-90 is more enjoyable, safer, and fuel efficient.

Out of curiosity where did you find such a stretch of road to peg the speedo past 160?

I had my speedo past the 165 spot and it did not quit in my old 993. I miss that car.

I made 158. Gas pedal wasn't to the floor.
Too sad I didn't have nuts to push it to metal.
Maybe I wouldn't be typing this message now.. just kidding.

On the drive back from Las Vegas in my, "new" C2S, we did just under 170 on highway 15. Had my brother in the car too, not that weight is a real factor with top end.

Dangerous to read your speedo at those speeds, in my case I cannot read the speedo.
I just put the OBC on speed and its clear digits.

I had my car at redline in 5th, speedo registering 160mph. The car was very vivid at that speed, much more so than my old M635CSI at 150mph.

I managed 165mph on a motorway in eastern France, I checked the speed on the OBC display I agree that the speedo is dangerous to check at those speeds, there was more to go, but when i noticed what speed I was doing, I bottled out.

What I love is the way the car aerodynamically "lowers" to the ground above 120...the faster you go the more stable it seems.

How many of you guys did your top speeds with old stock suspensions? I've taken mine up to about 140, and it felt fairly solid/predictable with the Monroes. However, I think I'll wait until the spring when I plan to get HDs & coilovers/RoW to go further.

With stock US suspension and engine tray off, I have been up to 155. This was the first time that I felt like the car was starting to lighten (lift) a little. Just got new PSS9s delievered yesterday however........ Need sways...... RS spliters..........

The most I had with the original shocks was 156mph, it felt unstable so i had to back off, but they were close to finished at that stage. The 165mph run was with Bilstien HD's (engine tray off) and the car was as solid as a rock.
