Default 1996 PORSCHE 993 GT2 EVO

Just lurking over on Ray's site and see he's added this beast, thought I'd share.
Enjoy.

Very nice indeed, I always thought the Gt2 came out in '96...then the EVO....as in evolution version of the original followed in 1998 ?

WOW, what a neat car. The GT2 was officially released in 1995 with the first one in the USA which was Yellow like this car, going to a team I later worked with named Rohr Motorsports (Jochen Rohr). The first time I worked with a GT2 was when I was contracted by a team out of England called Parr Motorsports (Paul Robe) for the 24hr of Daytona race in January 1996, that was extensively photographed by Bruce Anderson. We also ran 2 GT2's in the 1996 24hr of Le Mans and other selected races in Europe i.e. Nurburgring. The Evo was not officially released until 1996 and ascetically it had a different front bumper and rear wing which we called GT1 components until Porsche released the GT1 race car, which was also built from the 993 chassis. That's when we chose the term GT2 Evo for the revised GT2. The latest versions of the GT2 were designed and built by built Mike Gramke from Roock Racing. We had performed extensive modifications to the GT2 which we named the GT2 Evo 2. This car consisted of a Sequential dog Gearbox from a company named GT racing out of England, a very high horsepower 3.8-4.0 liter engines with Tag electronics and radical body changes for width allowed by the ACO (Le Mans) and the FIA.

There are going to be at least two original GT2 Evo's at the PCA race at Daytona next weekend. One was Larry Schumacher's old IMSA car now owned by John Ellis. The other is Leh Keen and his father's, not sure the exact history on it.

They are very impressive and very expensive cars.

the Keen's car was I believe 3rd at Le Man in ~1997 in it's class, has a plaque in the car signed by the drivers from that race. Awesome car...

bot a artic/black turbo 's' from ray a few weeks ago. putting aside price for a second, i was thoroughly pleased with the transaction. very informativ. very responsive. car checked out exactly as advertised. and he made sure everything got done as he said it would. price was high, but everyone has a right to ask their price, and we have a right to pay it or not.

fyi, sloan has a gt2 he says had an msrp 190k, selling it for 125 or so. under 5k miles. it was one narly looking animal. big, fat, fast-looking. i really had no interest but seemed like a good deal for sure. silver. or gray. i cant remember.

Premium pricing, that's true. But Ray's cars are truly Museum Quality
examples!
