Default ????Route

OK this is what I was thinking of........BS911 and Andreas will know some of this route and other may know some of rest....please feel free to comment

Out of Starbucks....north on 355 to First Street turn right onto first
Cross lights onto Norbeck........keep going cross Georgia
About 3mils after Georgia go left onto Layhill
Over lights at Reddoor shop (I think this is Hampshire...BS911???)
Keep going over next lights onto Ednor.....now it gets slightly twisty
Go over Browns Bridge.......turn right onto Lime Kiln.....lovely long straight and then twisty with dips......BS911 and I love this section
Turn right at end of Lime Kiln..........over two roundabouts and then North on 29
Take West 32 to junction with 108...turn left at end of off ramp, over 32 then go right onto 10 oaks road
After a mile or so bear left onto Brighton Dam Rd....stay on Brighton Dam Road....through Brighton....through Brookville and across Georgia....onto Brookville road
At end of Brookville go Right on Olney/Laytonsville rd for a mile then left onto Fieldcrest.....another couple of miles and left onto Woodfield rd......a couple of miles then right onto Midcounty highway and then left onto North Summit Avenue........wich will take you to Diamond

The later part of the route may need some refinement from the likes of Trinitony who live in the area and may know a better route .... please chime in if you think so..........this was all done from memory

The Red Door Country store is at Norwood Rd. - the next light up at the end of the golf course is New Hampshire.

If anyone hasn't driven this - there are a lot of nice dips that make this a fun road even at legal speeds. The speed limits do run around the 30-40 range for most of it and on my weekday commutes, I have seen occassional radar. Not sure about the weekends though.

D Hicks: I think this route would take about an hour and would be different than any route we've done before. It feels right to me, so ... let's do it, unless there's any serious dissent amongst other Rennlisters about the distance.

Trinitony: Are you able to refine this route by any chance? We'll need actual or close to actual driving distances for each road listed if possible.

JFSCheck Yes, I will post the info on all the boards when the actual driving route is squared away, and that should be done within 24 hours. I just want everyone to have a complete picture of where the drive will take us, so they can envision it for the next 6 weeks, imagining every curve and twist, projecting themselves and their car onto road, dreaming about their Porsche hugging every inch of the "course". It wouldn't be the same without a visit from your limited edition beauty so I'm glad you can come.

Cheers,
Steve R

Bummer! I recently moved to the area and would have loved to connect with all you local Rennlisters but previous Thanksgiving travel plans won't make it possible this time. From my limited exposure to the local roads (I make a daily trip from Glenwood to Burtonsville), David's route would be very fun. Have a great time and I'll catch you all next time.

This part is correct.."a couple of miles then right onto Midcounty highway and then left onto North Summit Avenue........wich will take you to Diamond". Becareful on Midcounty highway, lots of cops.

Question - is there sufficient parking at that restaurant for all these cars.

The left is on Goshen Road, whch turns into Summit Avenue or is it Goshen on the right on Summit on the left. I will check tonight for sure and I'll also drive by the restaurant.

The directions were slightly changed....cos I could not get mapquest to go exactly where I wanted .....the time stated is probably a little over cautious ... I would expect us to do it in an hour easy...............If people think this is slightly too long there is one place I can take a little mileage out but we will miss some very nice road with dips and twists and turns

Great job, David. Boy, that's alot of turns! Sounds like a great drive.

Trinitony: Yes, there's tons of parking at the restaurant, usually. Sunday lunch is typically not too busy for them. Our cars most likely won't need to be parked up against large hulking minivans with parents and their strollers, or next to large, oversize Chevy trucks where careless owners are swinging them open widely into our 993's .

Are we talking continuous driving or stops thrown in? Would prefer a nice long run...

I plan to attend. Should be a fun time - it'll be my first event like this and I'm looking forward to it. Thanks for setting it up!
