Lightbulb LPMM

I know it's customary to post pics of newly acquired rides, but I actually don't have anything decent yet, since I'm still "upgrading" it.

Anyway, I figured I'd post some photos of my very well done LPMM's - not by myself and certainly not by the amateurs at Midas. We used a 2" stainless mandrell J-bend for smoother flow.

Ok. Here's what it looks like so far.
I know, I know...it's SUV height. I'm waiting for PSS-9's which had initially been scheduled for installation along with the RS LWF (late October), but I'm getting impatient, so I'll probably just install them myself this weekend.

Very nice car Marco! Looks menacing with the black wheels.

I think you might be the first one i've seen post a picture of his mufflers before posting one of the car - talk about being on the slippery slope!

Cheers,
Bob

LPMM's look really good... I like the j-bend, that looks just right.
How long does each piece of stainless need to be?
Did you cut open the mufflers and take any of the sound deadening material out?
Have you got them back on the car, and how do you like the sound?
Beautiful car, and one modification I'm looking into doing right now, Congrats.

What's a slippery slope????
All I did was order an extra set of wheels and tires, smoked corners, carbon fiber/alum brake handle, shift ****, HID retrofit kit, big oval tips and a few other things before I even picked up the car.
What are you getting at?
I don't have a problem...

Just order a piece of 2" stainless with a mandrell J-bend. You'll see how much of it you need as you line it up and mark it. Just cut away a little at a time untill it fits and then cut the openings into the muffler's inlet and outlet.
I don't know what it sounds like yet, but the sound files I've come across on RL sound great and people report no resonance issues.
My car also has more burble and pop off throttle than most, which I LOVE to hear. So the next logical step is obviously 100 cell cats.
I'm going to look into buying 100-cell cores and fabricating around them, since the aftermarket prices of the completed pieces seem outrageous. I think the same exact cats would be far less expensive, were they being sold to the Honda market...IMHO.

Marco,
What wheels are those? They look like Kinesis but it's hard to tell.

Forgive my ignorance but what is/are "LPMM"? I even looked at Adrian's 993 Companion book and this one's not in there.

I think we may need a sticky w/ all the acronyms...SAI, MFI, DME, ECU, DMF ect., ect.

It all started with this thread... https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...highlight=lpmm

LPMM is basically a homemade partial muffler bypass thought up by our own Leland Pate (as in Leland Pate Modified Muffler). I've heard them before in person and they sound really nice. A great low rumble at idle. I have a 2 ft section of stainless steel tubing sitting in my trunk awaiting my own mod.

OK, that explains it, thanks. No wonder I couldn't find any ref. to it in other sources.

I'm just waiting for Adrian's Second Edition to come out where I hope to obtain a certain amount of professional recognition for my hard work and years of tireless research into Budget 993 Muffler enhancement.

Hey! At least I'll be known for something!

I did this mod several months back and love it. Nice throaty growl at idle and WOT. Definitely a nice midrange upgrade between Motorsound and Supercups.

Found them on ebay from oems4less or oem4less or something like that. I love the look, but they're not real 3-piece wheels, nor are they super lightweights. I'm using them strictly for the street. The turbo twists will get a nice set of sticky rubber for track use.
