Default "Top Gear" host injured in 300mph crash

Not Clarkson, but the other guy Richard Hammond. Seems he was trying to set a speed record at an abandoned RAF airfield. Let's hope he recovers.

Bummer - an occupational hazard I would surely endure in light of the job

Mr hammond is the one that owns a 997 as tested on top gear that out performed the V8 Vantage Aston Martin and BMW M6 on the isle of man. Clarkson hates them but the 911 put him in his place when it was streets ahead of the competition and Hammond ordered one after they tested it.

+ the wife fancies him

I hope he pulls through. According to the news he is still critical but stable.

My thoughts go out to his wife and two kids.

Sad news indeed, I hope he pulls through with no ill effects.

It's slightly encouraging to read that he was conscious and speaking when they pulled him out of the car.

He'll probably be staying away from jet powered cars for a while I suspect!

Why all the sad replys? even if he had succumbed to his injuries he would have been doing what he loved which is a far better way to go than lying in bed dying from some debilitating disease.

I'm glad it looks like he will recover, but still think if he's a real driver (speed/adrenaline junkie), he'll try it again!

I know I would!
