Default Best Source for Brakes

OK, newbie preparing to do my first brake job. Were do you guys order your rotors and pads from? I'm assuming OEM rotors and Textar pads at this point as the car is doing DD duty for now. OEM seems to be the preferred choice for rotors by most but I'm also open to any positive experiences with other brands. Thanks.

Definitely stick with OE rotors (there is no OEM supplier of rotors for the 993) and OE pads as there is a difference between OEM and OE Textar pads. I buy mine from Sunset Imports.

In IL, order from Stoddard. OE parts, good prices and UPS ground is like overnight. I use them for OE stuff and everything that I need sooner than Pelican can get to me. Don't forget the single-use caliper bolts.

Just had my OEM rotors and Textar pads installed about a month ago-bought all parts from Sunset. Not a peep of noise from my brakes now.

Despite the distance, I order from Sunset, too.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction guys. I'll get on the phone tomorrow with Sunset and Stoddard to see who has the better deal and the parts. Thanks for noting the caliper bolt Jon. Got it on the list. Looking forward to getting this first project under my belt.

I learned about Sunset from her. I recently ordered Rotors, the spoiler wall and a few other thigs. The service was excelent, what they said when they said and how they said.
I run OE parts only, pads also and not a sound ot of them.

Sunset ROCKS.

Another sunset user here......all brake components (including caliper bolts and spiders) bought and shipped with minimum fuss, all arrived in time (I was in a rush) with no issues....have ordered other stuff from them also

If you want to do a bit of RennFroogle here, what are Sunset's prices like:

OE Front Rotor (993-351-043[044]-01):
Stoddard $153.14
Pelican $165.75

OE Front Pads (993-351-939-01):
Stoddard $187.16
Pelican $201.75

Edit: added part numbers

What are the part numbers on those rotors? I have the September price list and can post the MSRP.

I didn't know that, thanks for the info. I just looked and sure enough, the shop manual says to replace the caliper bolts after removing (front only; rears are reusable). Maybe next time I'll follow that policy.

SHW Automotive is the brake rotor supplier to Porsche and they don't sell aftermarket OEM discs. Normally a vendor will list them as "Genuine" or OE. If you see a vendor selling "OEM" and the discs don't come in a box with the Porsche logo on it they are probably Otto Zimmerman which are crap and not OEM.
