Adam's C4s "RUF"
#18
I shared a beer with Adam when on a trip to Seattle. Very nice young man with his own ideas to personalize his Porker.
What he did to his car, I would not do to mine but this is my opinion.
He is also entitled to his own opinions. Let's be KOOL

Adam has a dubious past, but he's a YOUNG KID. I don't agree with the way he has conducted himself in the past (the sale of the bumper I knew about, the sale of the exhaust I didn't), but he's received plenty of tongue-lashings from fellow RL'ers for his behavior. I've even seen him also apologize for some of it. Whether it was sincere I'll never know, but it nonetheless was an effort. Regardless, he remained the young-kid-with-too-much-money-and-not-enough-taste that was consistently hazed when he posted.
About a month ago I realized I hadn't seen him post in quite a while. I was afraid that the reason was that he was tired of getting ridiculed everytime he posted. The acceptance that he was constantly seeking from the RL community was not granted. I don't know if that's the real reason, but I would suspect that had something to do with it.
Overall, do I think Adam's done things in the past that are contrary to the spirit of Rennlist? Yes. Do I think he's a bad person? No. Do I think he's been treated harshly in the past? Yes. Do I feel really bad that he even THOUGHT to mention the RL community as a reason for selling his car (true or not)? Yes.
Using Adam as an example, I think it may be good to remember that only ~12% of the members (or users) that post here are perfect. I hope that the 12%'ers can all sort of overlook the other 88%'s little foibles and allow them into our sacred brotherhood, otherwise I'm afraid that the RL community may suffer from a little shrinkage.
Just my .02

I was taken aback recently when I posted and one of the replies was that I needed to join, become a member. Yes, I have about a hundred posts, and do enjoy this forum. I am NOT knowledgable about my car , and I DO appreciate the forum. BUT I see certain people that are pushy, snobby, ect and this forum is hurt by that.
I had no prior knowledge of this young man, but as I said in the closed thread if he has managed to buy and modify that car on his own , it is quiet an accomplishment.

I think you're all correct. Adam did some dubious things and RLers called him on it. I was part of that as well. Once he apologized for everything, we probably should have taken more of a "forgive and forget" approach, but "se la vi."
Regardless, it's a beautiful 993, and I'm sure Adam's not a bad guy. I hope he's not selling his car because of the backlash he recieved in these forums, because that would be the wrong reason.
