Default Question about what looks like a hole in a door

I was looking at some pictures of a car on ebay and noticed what appears to be part of a hole just above the armrest. The hole is in the same location on both doors. I haven’t noticed this before in other cars I’ve looked at and was wondering if these holes are normal or, if not, what they are doing there. Below is a picture of the driver's side door with the “hole” circled.

I haven't looked at the car in person yet. I just have the pictures, unfortunately.

Looks like the vinyl (or leather ?) is coming unfolded from underneath. The vinyl is pulled tightly to fold underneath a board I believe. It is quite an easy fix for any upolstery shop. This happen to me on my 993 in the upper right corner.

Check for shrimp in the door pocket.....could be moisture damage.

Randy M is right. That flip door is noticably misaligned. Those doors sit
evenly accross the door pocket. There is a wedge shaped stop that is
attached to the door panel to keep the back edge of the flip door aligned.
It would be in the area of the alleged hole. If the stop were removed it
would have left a depression in the door panel upolstry creating a shadow
in the picture. The door pocket is misaligned with the door handle also.
Something is definitely amuck!

Doors were probably disassembled to install aftermarket stereo speakers.

My armrest doors look misaligned because the center is bowing in a bit, most likely from the pressure of my elbow and 400lb weight.

That's from pulling 2g's in the corners and 200lbs weight though! Right?

Interesting. Thanks a lot for your ideas. I'll let you know if I take a look at it in person. I saw the car advertised for sale by the owner and when I emailed him, he said he just sold it to a dealer (I guess he wasn't getting any interest in the car). Then I found it advertised for sale by a dealer for $7,000 more than the individual was asking for it. It's probably a bit overpriced now, in my opinion.
