Hi All,

Can some let me know how many hours it should take for a porsche tech to install a short shifter in my 993.

Thanks very much

Hey Jordan. I'd say a tech should be able to do it in an hour, but would bet that they would charge 2 or 3.

1 hour easy. Not more. Heck I did it in less than that and had never done it before AND I didn't have a lift

Tim
Was the short shifter worth it? I was thinking about getting one just because.
Does that mean I am on the "slope"?

Classic denial! There is a 12-step program somewhere for you!

Problem is the 12-step Rennlist program starts with PSS9's or some other exotic suspension and ends with a short shift kit

What kit do you use? B&M or factory? Did you do both shift lever, fork and shift rod?

I'd recommend the factory kit...easy install and the results are very worthwhile. I had mind in in less than an hour...easy to do yourself with just a couple of very basic tools.

I did the RS fork/lever install in about an hour - and had to do it twice because I forgot to flip the guide tube. Very worthwhile mod and easy to do. Can't imagine paying someone to do it though.

I also have the short shift kit (fork, lever & rod). Thinking of doing it myself as well. If time permits, I may start it later in the week at night, and finish it up on the weekend.
I recently did RS motor mounts, should get my retunded ECU from RennSport tomorrow. So hoping to do the SSK.
