I was checking my Varioram rubber T and it was looking as bad a dried raisin... totally collapsed... I used a large paper clip to do a metal spring turning it over a screwdriver and voilà, with it inside the Varioram rubber T it looks as fat as needed.

As soon as I finish waxing the car I will take it for a spin and get back with my comments on the results... Let's see if the polar silver 95 C4 Cab is still faster than the turquoise metallic 96 C2 Cab...

Dosent porsche list a C4 as having a quicker 0-60 time by 0.1 sec? I would think the lighter C2 would be faster but the C4 will have obviously better traction, especially from a dead stop

Wow a varioram "stent" with a paper clip, hope it doesn't get sucked in where it shouldn't be.

It was a tight fitting to the rubber T. The diameter of the spring is wider than the connecting tube.
Thanks for the note!

In this whole thread - the post above , is - of course - the most correct... For example - my '95 C4 is far and away faster than any other 993 I own...

Just my $0.00002

As I said it was a tight fitting to the T rubber... but where would it go in case it is not?

I think you'll be fine with the coiled paper clip, there's almost no stress there. Clever solution!

After using the special aerodynamic wax and a large paper clip converted to a spring to open the way on the Varioram T rubber I have to say that at least I can hear the beautiful wooooooooaaaaaaammmmm coming from the Varioram when moving over 3.000 rpm and again after 5.000 rpm… nice…

To celebrate the return of the Varioram I left a racey Corvette (I guess it was a C5) eating dust on my way to South Beach this afternoon…

Compared to the 95 C4 Cab… I still think the 95 feels faster than the 96 C2 Cab.

A good start - but the wrong result! I believe that you must be right handed .... and fell into the classic error of winding the spring coils onto the pencil in a clockwise fashion .... never realizing that this results in a left hand thread.
If this error was passed on to the 'Tee' fitting, you are fighting the inherent vacuum vortex of a reverse mounted engine .... which requires a right hand thread to achieve full power( look closely at the coils in the pic posted previously).
Just a typical amateur error - nothing to lose sleep over : you can easily invest in another paper clip, wind it correctly, and restore the superior VRam power. - and leave the 95 back with the C5.

I am glad you mentioned... thanks God I am left handed
I guess the Varioram ducts are kind of stuck and that with the continuous use will get the lost edge
