Wow, I went away to autocross for the weekend thinking I was getting a beautiful new shifter and a writing career with R&T. I guess I'll keep my day job.

Congratulations fb and thank you geolab for entertaining us for a couple days.

A BIG CONGRATS TO FBFISHER. . .
ALU SHIFTER SHIPPED

My porsche story started when one of my childhood friends introduced me to one of his best friends who happened to be the porsche main dealer.
I wasn't a p-fan at all.
After several times hanging at the dealership, the dealer insisted on lending me a 993 TT for a day to try.
Driving through city traffic was not a pleasure, but was seduced with the car overall.
I decided after that my porsche will be a tip, arctic silver, and a turbo body.
And the dealer showed me the carrera S. Seeing the rear grills comemmorating the 356 grills on the engine lid, I fell for it.
I spent 6 months to find the car through porsche.
I took a plane to dusseldorf in germany, and purchased the car. While signing the papers early that morning,
three clients came for the car while the dealer had over 200 porsches in his immense showroom.
And then it all started.
The test pilot at the dealer showed me what this tiptronic can do.
He asked me at some time to close my eyes, and you could not differentiate the sound and the feeling that its not a manual stick shift.
It took me three months to imitate his gestures and drive it the same way.
Since then, I have taken several porsche clients on a small ride with boxters, 993's and 996 tiptronic, and they signed the check for a tip when we came back.

As for the tiptronic gearbox mapping, to achieve the C5 program (sport)
there are two major ways to do this in manual:
-Start in second. and as the car moves one foot distance, tip to first while abruptly stepping on the throttle.
-when in whichever speed, release and step on the throttle swiftly.

George, thanks for this unique way you brought positive attention to the beauty of driving a tip. And thank you also for your generous gift, I will be sure to "pay it forward" in the spirit of what RL is all about

I liked ceboyd's story, and voted as such.
I tend to hear those stories in the reverse, where the husband has the money for the porsche.

All stories were still great!
