I like the flimsy sound when I close the door on my car.

The reason we have these stupid threads is because we have too much time on our hands!

Well, I must say, the window switches are way flimsy!!! However, I think they share those with the 964.

I wonder if he is referring to the manufacturing techinques that were implemented during the introduction of the 993 series... Not so hand made. Does this make them more flimsy?

Great thread. Let's list the flimsy items on the 993.
1. the little plastic piece that fits on the front end of the door panel topper. Always overtorqued and cracked, even from the factory
2. the plastic pieces on the bottom sides of the seat backs, again easily cracked
3. plastic window switches

Do I see a trend here (plastic)? All these apply to other 911 model years too.

Yeah, the windshields are "flimsly" too- I am on my fourth in less than a year. Oh, I guess I shouldd blame that on all the construction around here... LOL

I have never been in or driven any 911 that didn't creak, flex or leak a bit of oil including my buddies 92' 3.3L C2 Turbo.........................

Every 911, Turbo or not, with power windows from 1978 on, had and uses the same power window switch as our 993's......................

You would think they would have figured it out by now.

Sweet looking car though...
Maybe it's just (and him) but I have one of each in my garage and the 993 does feel flimsy compared to the 964. It feels like the 993 is a lighter car, louder on the inside.. not quite as 'SOLID'. Anyone in the Puget Sound region can come on over to my side of the water and check them out, then tell me what you think.

TriniTony....correction...the car is in Bad Boys I, the original. Gorgeous car. But seller is full of s*hit describing 993's as flimsy. Mine's a 95 (12 years old now) and is tight as a drum. Doors shut like vaults, and over RR tracks, only sounds are the thumpty, thumpty of the tires crossing the tracks.

LOL. My bad for digging that one up. I didn't check the date and ran across it looking for some info on power window switches... DOH!

I won't say my 993 is a tin can but compared to my 964 it's flimsy. I guess I commented because I found it interesting that I'm not the only one that thinks so.

I took my 964 off the road backwards across a ditch and landed in a farmers field. Drove away, not flimsy. I've had a 993 for three years and haven't dared to do the same.Flimsy?,maybe just older. Andy.
