993 Poll- Infatuation or Love of Your Life?
Hi,
We on this board are a devoted bunch. After close to 3 years of ownership, I still gloat about my RUF any chance I got. I love her looks, her performance, her smell, her sound, just love everything about my car.
I had an M5 that I loved to death for about 4 years, and gradually lost patience as the annoying problems compunded. I have issues with my RUF too, and spent a lot more money on the RUF than the M5, yet I never lost my total admiration for this car. To me, this is the love of my life. I cannot imagine myself parting with it for another car. I will buy more cars in my life time, but the RUF will always be there.
When then do I ask my question and my poll? I see many new members/users with new-to-them 993s here. Since you can't buy a new one, someone must have sold theirs. Obviousely there are owners who can part with their 993s.
I hope one day all 993s will end up in the ownership of people who love and appreciate the car forever. Then we will have a very steady pool of owners instead of cars changing hands in a matter of years.
Enjoy your great rides in fine health.

I told my wife the other day that for the first time in my life, I wasn't looking for my next car. The 993 is it. Although I always liked the search, there is a tremendous feeling of fulfillment in not wanting any other car.
My problem now is I can't stop modding my car. And then I read about the Ninemeister heads in '911.' If they come to the states, I'm in trouble.

I bought mine (1st Porsche) in March and subsequently quit my job in June. As a CFP all proper/rational/professional advice would have me selling right about now and putting $20K into the bank and picking up a nice used car for $20K. But I can't. I even took an advance from my HELOC for next month's mortgage - how sick is that? Now, if I don't find something interesting in the next 30 days, unfortunately my love will have to take a backseat to prudence. Problem is I just can't, I really can't, think of another car that would have the same feelings about. I love the feel, the sound, the simplicity of the cockpit, the practicality/performance on trips from SF to Tahoe. 27MPG or 120+mph cruiser - both w/no sweat. Believe me boys (and girls) I'm holding off for near death/bankruptcy on this sale!

I once bought a 944 turbo in El Tempe, made it to Clearwater in just over 33 hours straight. (My most notable accomplishment to date ) I'm pretty sure I could beat that record if a GT3 was waiting for me at the finish line!

Hey boys and girls,
Before you go off trading your 993s for GT3's just keep in mind that the doors on the GT3's rattle when you close em' with the windows down (I drove one a few weeks back).....now you still sure you want to trade with Luis?
Only kiddin ya Luis, the GT3 was a really impressive ride.

I also love my TT and like you Pong, after 2 years of ownership... I'm still deeply in love with her. Although she not a daily driver but I still look forward to our private time every Sunday... and I have no plan to end the relationship any time soon.
