Adrienne,

I can tell.

The duck would look great on your Targa! If you do it, yours may be the first 993 Targa so equipped.

Rennspeed Motorsports has them on sale for $325 right now... pretty hard price to beat.

You've made me cry that I am no longer the only 993 ducktail.

Here it is with splitters.

Curious -
How does the engine vent or get it's air w/ the ducktail?

JC,

You were the innovator that inspired me to copy you (and Matt).

Carmen,

There is plenty of airflow through the 911SC/Carrera 3.2 grille that you have to use with the Rennspeed tail. The engine seems to run a bit cooler than it did pre-ducktail based the temp gauge reading.

Jack, you've made me blush. But I can take no credit for innovation. The credit goes to Butzi.

As for cooling and aero effects, I've had the ducktail on for nearly four years and I've had it at high speeds and in hot weather for some track work and there have been no problems whatsoever.

Jack-looks like the tail is a big hit!

I just read your list of the Gone, but not forgotten. Wow. What's the V designation on the '72 911 T-V?

OK, what's your next mod?

Chuck,

The 911 T-V was the European (ROW) 911T 2.4 that had Zenith carburetors instead of MFI. It was rated at 10 hp less than the USA 911T, at 130 hp DIN. The T-V was perhaps the only 911 where the Euro model had a lower hp rating than the equivalent USA car. V = vergasser, German for carburetor.

Mine was originally sold in Italy. It was nearly as quick as my '72 911E with 165 DIN hp.

The next (and hopefully last) mod will be a 993 RS steering wheel.

Jack,

That car looks great with the tail. Bring it out to or car show on Sept. 2 at 8:30 am until 10:30am. Location is the Avenue East Cobb. We had 125 cars there the other day, and about 10 P-cars.

Cool I just can't get behind the duck tail craze..

I will only make a change if it will improve function. The duck tail aerodynamics re. reducing lift is no improvement from the stock moveable tail...that is why I went to the 993RS aero package.

To each his own...I suppose that is why we have spinner wheels that rotate and other such improvements. I just don't get it.

IMO the ducktail DID improve function...besides eliminating the annoying, noisy moveable spoiler, the new lid weighs considerably less than the old one. As a side benefit, I suspect the gas struts will last longer as well.

I personally prefer the relatively understated look of the ducktail over the other available spoilers. I am the one who has to look at the car every day, therefore I am the only one who has to like it.

With that said, if we all liked the same things, the world would be a pretty boring place!
